How a 5G handover moves between cells

A concise, silent Telecom Atlas animation of a device moving from one serving cell to another.

Original silent conceptual animation. Signal values and geometry are illustrative, not live network measurements.

The sequence, in words

A descriptive summary of the film, not a word-for-word narration transcript.

  1. The device begins inside the coverage area of the serving cell.
  2. As it moves, the relative radio conditions of the serving and neighboring cells change.
  3. A measurement event supports the network decision. A stronger neighboring signal alone is not the whole policy.
  4. The connection moves to the target cell and the visual completes the conceptual handover.

What to take away

Follow the boundary between an observation and a completed change. A visual sequence makes the mechanism easier to discuss; a real design still needs site-specific engineering, operating procedures and verification.
